Ways to Join the KIND Crew
Guardians
Guardians are the keepers of the land - bringing their love and care to setting up before the gathering, through the pause, and packing down after both cycles. This is the full commitment: build, pause and break. Depending on your skills and capacity, your work will be either physical (building, woodwork etc), in the art + creation team, supporting in kitchen or production office.
Crew Builders
Crew Builders bring the same love and care to the land as Guardians, but contribute for one part of the journey - either the build and pause before Cycle I, or the pause and break after Cycle II. Same roles, same heart, just a shorter commitment.
KIND Gems ✨
Gems are the beating heart of the gathering, contributing their energy during the festival itself, whether that's in the kitchen, at the cacao bar, with kids, or behind the scenes. This is dynamic, heart-centred work that gives your festival experience even more meaning and connection.

Common Questions
1. What's the real difference between a Gem, a Guardian and a Crew Builder - and how do I know which one is right for me?
The difference is when you work and how you want to experience the gathering.
KIND Gems work shifts woven into the festival days (4h/day). You're fully part of the programme, mixing working and enjoying the gathering. A great fit for anyone who wants to contribute their energy while the village is fully alive around them - parents, child-free adults, couples, solo. Free entry.
KIND Guardians work before the festival (build), during the pause, and after (break) only. Zero shifts during the festival days, so you're completely free once the gathering begins. Best for families attending both cycles who can arrive before Cycle I and stay after Cycle II. Free entry.
Crew Builders bring the same love and care as Guardians but for one part of the journey - either the build and pause before Cycle I, or the pause and break after Cycle II. No shifts during the festival itself. 50% off their ticket.
Want to join for both cycles and can arrive a few days early and stay a few days after?
Guardian is for you.
Want to join for one cycle only, and work few days before or after - not the full journey?
Crew Builder is for you.
Want to join for the festival itself, with shifts woven into your festival days?
Gem is for you.
Want to do both - contribute before and/or after the festival and during it?
Guardian + GEM is for you.
2. As a Crew Builder, how much will we actually save - and what exactly do we pay?
As a Crew Builder, you pay 50% off your own adult ticket, and children would come from 45€ to 125€ (depending on their age).
So for example: a family of 4 (2 adults + 2 kids) coming for one cycle would normally pay 800€+ in adult tickets alone. As Crew Builders, they pay 400€ total for both adults - and children would come from 45€ to 125€ (depending on their age).
For KIND Gems & Guardians: your ticket is completely free. Once your place is confirmed, we ask for a refundable 100€ commitment deposit — returned in full after the festival once all your shifts are completed.
3. As Guardians, do both adults really have to work - and who looks after the kids?
Yes - and this is actually what makes Guardian work so well for families.
Both adults have shifts, but never at the same time. One parent works, while the other is with the kids. Then you swap. We schedule everything around that so it feels light for the family.
And remember - all of this happens during the build, pause, and break phases. Not during festival days. Once the gathering begins, your whole family is completely off duty for both cycles.
4. As Crew Builders, do both adults really have to work - and who looks after the kids?
Yes - but never at the same time.
We always schedule shifts so one parent is with the children while the other works. Then you swap. It's designed to feel manageable, not heavy.
And none of this happens during the festival itself. Once your cycle begins, your whole family is completely off duty.
5. As a Gem, will I actually get to enjoy the festival?
Yes, absolutely! This is one of the questions people ask most, and the answer is a clear yes.
Gem shifts are 4 hours per day during the festival. The rest of your day is yours to be in the programme, in nature, in community. And the work itself (being in the kitchen, running the café, setting up a beautiful space) is part of the experience. It gives your time here more meaning, not less.
Exact shift structures are shared once your role is confirmed. We schedule Gems thoughtfully, with rest and festival time protected.
Many Gems say the crew experience (the behind-the-scenes bonds) ends up being the highlight of their whole gathering.
6. What kind of work is involved? Do I need specific skills or experience?
No specific experience needed. We place people based on what feels aligned — your energy, your strengths, what you enjoy. The areas available are:
🛠 Manual — site build, DIY, lifting, pack-down
🍲 Kitchen — food prep, cooking, washing up, serving
🎨 Art & Installations — decorating spaces, painting signs, creative work
📋 Admin / Operations — box office, check-ins, info point
☕ KIND Café + Shop — serving cacao, snacks, drinks, running the shop
🌈 KIND Angels — babysitting and family support
🎛 Tech, Light & Sound — AV setup and maintenance
The more you share about yourself in your application - what you love, how you like to contribute, your energy levels - the better we can match you to something that feels good.
7. I don't have children - can I still join the KIND Crew?
Absolutely. The KIND Crew is made up of parents, caregivers, and child-free adults, all equally welcome.
If you're coming solo with no kids of your own, this is such a heart-warming way to be involved. You'll form deep bonds, feel useful, and be part of shaping a future generation in the way humanity really needs.
Children flourish when surrounded by diverse, caring adults of all kinds. Many of our most beloved crew members don't have kids of their own - and they keep coming back year after year.
All paths are open to you.
Gem is a natural fit if you want to be fully part of the festival as it happens, with shifts woven into your days.
Guardian and Crew Builder mean you do all your work outside of the festival itself - so you experience your cycle or cycles with zero shifts.
And if you want the full experience, the Guardian + GEM combo lets you contribute both before and during the festival - for one or both cycles.
8. Does it matter which cycle I apply for? What's the difference between Cycle I and Cycle II?
No, it doesn't matter which cycle you choose. Both have the full programme and the complete KIND experience. Each cycle is whole and complete on its own.
Cycle I: July 25-29
Cycle II: August 1-5
Pause between cycles: July 30-31 (site reset; food and facilities available if staying for both)
The choice really comes down to your calendar. Which dates work for you? How long can you stay?
For Guardians: You choose Build + Pause (both cycles, arriving before Cycle I), Pause + Break (both cycles, staying after Cycle II), or Build + Pause + Break (full experience, both cycles).
For Crew Builders: You choose Build + Pause (arriving before Cycle I and staying through the pause) or Pause + Break (staying through the pause and after Cycle II). One cycle only.
For Gems: Come for one or both cycles. Indicate your availability on the application form and we'll place you accordingly.
If you'd love to stay for both cycles, you're very welcome to. It's a truly immersive and beautiful way to experience the gathering.
9. Can I join the KIND Crew as a solo parent?
Yes, and we love that you want to be part of building this with us.
That said, we want to be honest with you so you can make the best decision for your family.
As a KIND Gem, your shifts are 4 hours per day during the festival. We take this commitment seriously. Our volunteers are a huge part of what makes the gathering work, and when we have 400 people on site we really count on each and every one of them. We strongly recommend having a dedicated person with you to care for your little one during your working hours. Without that, it's very difficult to show up fully for both your child and your role.
As a Guardian or Crew Builder, the work happens outside of festival time - during build, pause, and break phases. The environment is smaller, the team is tight, and there's naturally more flexibility in how we organise ourselves on the ground. It tends to work better for solo parents who want to contribute their energy and skills.
Whichever path you choose, we invite you to reflect honestly on what works best for your family, and share that with us in your application. 💙
10. What happens after I apply? Is my place guaranteed?
Submitting your application doesn't guarantee a place - Gem, Guardian, and Crew Builder roles are all limited, and we read every form with real care before confirming. Places fill up fast, so it's worth applying early.
Once we've reviewed your application, we'll be in touch. If you're offered a place:
Gems and Guardians - we'll ask you to pay the €100 refundable deposit to secure your spot. It's returned in full after the festival once your shifts are complete.
Crew Builders - we'll ask you to pay 50% of the full ticket price to confirm your place. This is your ticket, so it's not refundable.
Exact shift structures are shared once placements are confirmed. Everything will be communicated clearly.
We really do read every application with care. The more you share about who you are and what you bring, the easier it is for us to place you somewhere that feels nourishing for everyone. 💛
